Search the Neosho County Court Docket

Begin with the statewide case search for Neosho County, Kansas; the weekly court calendar or the District Court Clerk in Erie comes next when a document is not online. District Court and city municipal court matters keep separate files, so the court decides the route. Filings, hearings, and results form the dated event history of a case. Search, calendar, clerk. A Neosho County court docket search that moves through them in order gets both the date and the record.

Two Neosho Court Counters

Neosho County District Court runs two filing counters. The official Neosho court page places the Hudson Judicial Center at 102 S. Lincoln Street in Chanute. The Erie division sits at 100 S. Main Street, Room 110. Both belong to one Kansas District Court in the 31st Judicial District. Their files, however, are not interchangeable.

Chanute holds criminal, juvenile, domestic, civil, limited civil, small claims, and statutory bond filings. Those run from 1955 forward. Erie keeps probate, marriage license, liens, tax warrants, traffic, fish and game, care and treatment, guardianship, adoption, and bond records. Older pre-September-2001 civil and domestic groups sit there too. That split matters. A Neosho County court docket found online may still take a second call. Call the right counter before you expect to see the actual file.

The official court page lays out the two-division structure in context.

Match the case type and filing date to the correct counter. That is the practical rule for getting the underlying file at the right location.

What a Neosho County Court Docket Shows

Think of the Neosho County court docket as an index. It is not the full file. A public result can still tell you plenty. It identifies the case, the parties, attorneys, the assigned judge, the filings, settings, and the disposition. Limits exist, though. An entry may show a motion was filed without showing the motion itself. CalendarOJA works the same way. It lists a hearing shell that proves nothing about what happened afterward.

Case NumberOlder local formats and newer county-prefixed identifiers such as NOC-2026-CR-000123 can appear.
PartiesNames and roles for public cases, subject to redaction and access rules.
Docket Entries / FilingsDated activity, document titles, orders, service, and other case events.
Hearing SettingsDate, time, courtroom, connection or role, and setting type.
Court & JudgeThe Neosho division, assigned judicial officer, and courtroom label.
DispositionThe recorded outcome, which may differ from a pending status or a single hearing result.

CaseSearch and the Older Portal

For district-court lookups, the Kansas Judicial Branch now points users to Kansas CaseSearch. Confusingly, some official 31st District pages still reference the former Public Access Portal. The Smart Search guide does too. Treat the newer name as your starting point. The older materials still earn their keep. They explain fields like location, record type, case status, filing date, judge, party, attorney, and case number.

The 31st Judicial District home page also links local users to its calendar and resources.

That local page earns its keep when a statewide result must be matched to a Neosho courtroom, office, form, or phone contact. It bridges the state system and the county counter.

Portal distinction: Kansas eFlex is for authorized electronic filing. It is not the public Neosho County docket search.

Which Neosho County Courts Keep Dockets

The Kansas District Court is the general trial court and a court of record. Neosho County sits in the 31st Judicial District. It is a four-county district shared with Allen, Wilson, and Woodson Counties. Municipal courts stand apart. They handle only their own city ordinances. Appeals go up to the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. Federal matters live on an entirely separate federal docket, far from the county system.

A Docket Is Not the Full File

A common Neosho County court docket mistake: reading an event label as the document itself. Kansas public access keeps case information and filed documents separate. A motion entry proves an event was recorded. It does not guarantee the motion appears in the public web result. Some eligible documents are viewable only at a courthouse terminal. The portal will not show them there.

The official Kansas district court records explanation describes that layered access.

For a reliable copy, write down the case number and the exact document title. Then ask the District Court Clerk whether that item is online, terminal-only, paper, redacted, or restricted.

Finding Neosho County Court Dates and Settings

The 31st District publishes CalendarOJA as a date-range PDF. Repeated fields include judge, date and time, courtroom, and case number. Connection, party role, attorney, and setting type round out the columns. Search the PDF by case number instead of scrolling. The calendar can span many pages. It may also mix in settings from other counties in the judicial district.

A reset or continuance should produce a later setting. Yet a calendar snapshot can lag behind a fresh court order. The district itself warns that the calendar updates weekly and must be verified. The full Neosho County court calendar walkthrough covers the labels and fallback channels. Before any deadline or appearance, confirm the current date with the Chanute or Erie clerk.

When the Public Document Is Missing

A missing online PDF does not automatically mean a sealed record. Work through three steps. First, confirm your search matched the correct Neosho County case and court level. Second, ask whether an eligible copy sits on a public terminal at the Hudson Judicial Center or the Erie courthouse. Third, give the District Court Clerk a case number, document title, date, desired format, and whether you need certification.

Try a written Kansas Open Records Act request only when the correct custodian directs you there. Ask narrowly for one named public item. That travels far better than an undefined request for everything about a person.

Public Access to Neosho County Court Dockets

Kansas rules govern public access in Neosho County. Rule 22 sets out portal and courthouse-terminal access and lists case or document groups that stay closed. Rule 24 protects personal identifiers. Open-records statutes cover inspection, response, copying, fees, exceptions, and the separation of open portions. Even so, not every judicial document goes online.

Key Rules:

Kansas Supreme Court Rule 22 - sets public portal and courthouse-terminal access and identifies restricted cases and documents.

Kansas Supreme Court Rule 24 - requires protection of personally identifiable information in court filings.

K.S.A. 45-218 - governs inspection requests, custodian responses, and written reasons for refusal.

K.S.A. 45-221 - provides exceptions while requiring open portions to be separated when practical.

Neosho Court Work by the Numbers

State judicial tables give a sense of scale. For the period ending June 30, 2025, Neosho County recorded 409 felony dispositions, 247 misdemeanor dispositions, and 691 traffic dispositions. The most recent readable civil benchmark is 506 filings for the period ending June 30, 2024. Those measures count different things. They also cover different periods. Adding them together would tell you nothing real about the Neosho County court docket.

409felony dispositions
247misdemeanor dispositions
691traffic dispositions
506civil filings

A disposition is not an arrest. It is also not a pending-case count or a count of docket entries. One Neosho County case can generate many events. That is why search filters, a precise case number, and the right case type matter so much when you work a court docket.

The Sealed Neosho Calendar Line

The public 31st District calendar sometimes swaps identifying details for the word “Sealed.” The entry still keeps a limited setting shell. A date may still show. So may a judge, courtroom, case number, role, or setting type. No name or hidden fact can be inferred. It is about managing the setting, not exposing restricted content.

Rule 22 separates a restricted case from a restricted document. Juvenile, adoption, protection-order, expunged, presentence, and similar material can be absent or limited. K.S.A. 60-2617 sets sealing and redaction standards. Rules 23 and 24 govern filing designations and personal identifiers. Ask whether a public order or redacted version exists. Treat a blank portal field as proof of nothing.

The Neosho County Clerk and Docket Records

Angie Walters serves as District Court Clerk. Her office keeps the district-court case files, docket events, filings, judgments, copies, and certification work. Chasity Foreaker is a different elected official. As Neosho County Clerk she holds county-board minutes, budgets, contracts, elections, taxes, and other administrative records. The county form and its published charges do not establish the court's copy fee.

The official County Clerk page puts that role on display.

Neosho Court Access in Two Cities

Erie holds the county seat. Chanute is the county's largest city and also a district filing location. That geography matters more than any generic courthouse label. An older record may sit at the Erie courthouse because of its age or subject, while a current hearing may be set in Chanute. The District Court Clerk works across both spots, and the official court page carries the current counter instructions. The Neosho County website adds county and courthouse context.

The county site is no substitute for Kansas CaseSearch. But it keeps judicial and county records from blurring. The county's official history page adds the local setting behind the Erie courthouse and the county seat.

Court Dockets by City in Neosho County

The 2020 Census ranks Chanute, Erie, St. Paul, Thayer, and Galesburg as the five largest incorporated places in Neosho County. Each city page starts with that city's municipal route. District matters then go to Kansas CaseSearch or the Chanute or Erie clerk. Chanute publishes the strongest municipal detail. Erie, St. Paul, and Thayer offer contact routes but no public party-search database. Galesburg is the outlier. No neighboring city's contact should stand in.

Both counters close over the noon hour, and the Erie building also houses the separate County Clerk's office, so ask specifically for the District Court Clerk rather than county administration. A district administrative order restricts weapons in the courtroom and court areas at both locations. Call ahead to confirm which courthouse is sitting on a given date and whether a same-day change has been posted.
